Santa Maria Veterans Memorial Hall will host a free flu vaccine event organized by the Santa Barbara Health Department on Wednesday, Oct. 15, for community members 3 years of age or older.

Information from the department said that no appointment is necessary for the event, held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., open to anyone regardless of insurance status.

Public Health Officer Dr. Henning Ansorg said that getting vaccinated against the flu is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and the community.

“It is important to protect as many people in our communities as we can from the flu because it can potentially be deadly, especially for the elderly and the very young,” said Dr. Ansorg.
