BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - The Brazos County Commissioner’s Court voted Tuesday to enact a burn ban after more than five weeks without rainfall.
The ban was voted on under advice from Brazos County Emergency Management Coordinator Jason Ware .

“Wildfires can start very easy,” he said. “With these periodic cool fronts that are coming through, the humidity drops, the wind tends to be a little breezy during the daytime, and the conditions are very ripe for a wildfire or a grass fire.”
Over the last seven days, Ware said there have been about five grass fires that have burned 10 to 15 acres of land and two structures.
