LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - At a board meeting Tuesday night, JCPS board members discussed the district’s ongoing work to deal with their budget deficit.
During the meeting, board members voted to accept guidelines for an independent assessment of the district’s financial crisis that will be done by an external firm.
The assessment will focus on possible factors for the shortfall between 2022 and 2025. This includes a look at personnel and salary expansions, like administrative positions, whether the best practices were in place to manage the budget, whether existing policies promote competitive pricing and purchasing and how the district stacks up to other public school districts. They should not look at individual schools or testing, except when relevant to fiscal health.
