From Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Gold Star Foods are launching the “Apple Crunch Off.”
The program is part of a statewide effort to get students to take a collective “crunch” into fresh, Missouri-grown apples during National Farm to School Month.
National Farm to School Month in Missouri is an annual celebration of the connection between local farms, schools and students.
As part of the initiative, three hundred school districts will each receive five free cases of apples, sourced from Peters Orchards and Schweizer Orchards.
Schools participating will get digital toolkits with classroom activity guides and promotional assets. They will also receive interactive content about farming, sourcing, and apple nutrition.
