Seasonal work typically sees a glut of jobs starting in October as retailers gear up for the holidays, but this year might be slim pickings due to aggressive tariff policies. E-commerce, while also susceptible to an anticipated slowdown in consumer spending, is expected to perform well, and industry giant Amazon said it plans to hire 250,000 workers.

That’s good news for Hawaii, where multiple Amazon Air Cargo planes land each day, loading local produce and unloading purchases for delivery by company drivers operating out of its Sand Island facility. And with next-day shipping now available on some orders, Amazon might need seasonal workers here in the islands.
