WACO, Texas — Waco police have arrested a 24-year-old man on a manslaughter charge early Wednesday morning after a fatal shooting in South Waco.
At 12:20 a.m. on Oct. 15, officers responded to a call in the 2400 block of South 21st Street. There, police found a 24-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have notified the victims next of kin and will release his identity at a later time.
Police then identified and arrested Joshua Chappell in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with manslaughter.
The department believes that this was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public.
The investigation is ongoing. This incident marks Waco's ninth homicide investigation of 2025.
