TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A person was killed in a shootout with law enforcement early Wednesday morning in Northport.
Captain Jack Kennedy, with Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the deceased suspect was leading a police chase involving Hale County Sheriff's Office deputies and Moundville officers when they crossed into Tuscaloosa County around 2:30 a.m. At that point, Tuscaloosa authorities joined the chase and officers were able to successfully spike the suspect vehicle's tires in the area of Northport.
"The suspect vehicle came to a stop at Bell Auto Parts (410 Bridge Ave Northport, AL)," Kennedy said. "Shots were fired by the suspect and law enforcement at this location, and the suspect is deceased."
