ATLANTA — Civil rights activist and former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young announced his endorsement of Wayne Martin for the Atlanta City Council's District 11 seat.
In his announcement, Young said Martin understands that leadership is about service and not about status. The former civil rights legend said Martin listens, shows up, and knows how to bring people together to get things done.
“Wayne Martin has overcome great adversity from being homeless as a youth, and I know he has the compassion and capability to lead District 11 in making our neighborhoods safer," said Young in a release, "creating more opportunities for our youth, and a strong quality of life for our seniors.”
The former Atlanta mayor said he has "watched Martin since his days at Therrell High School, in the Maynard Jackso
