CM Sangma reiterated his government’s firm stand against uranium mining and assured action if any such activity is found

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday asked State BJP Vice President and Tura MDC Bernard N. Marak to act responsibly, stating that leaders in responsible positions should not come up with statements merely to grab attention or maybe just make a statement.

Reacting to Marak’s recent allegations of illegal uranium extraction in the Garo Hills, Sangma maintained that if such a case exists, it is a matter of concern and called on Marak to come forward with details and proof. He assured that if any such issue is found, the Government of Meghalaya will be the first to take necessary action.
