Hammond city officials announced Wednesday a $22.5 million plan to renovate Renaissance Towers & Apartments located at 524 Michigan St. The project would cover the entire complex, including two senior centers and 12 family buildings, totaling 450 units.

Renaissance Preservation LLC and its preservation division Sena Affordable Communities will lead the project, according to a city press release announcing the renovation.

“This project is set to deliver modern, comfortable and energy efficient apartments and shared spaces, with comprehensive infrastructure and facade upgrades that will shore up the community for decades to come," said L+M Development Senior Associate Sophie Cohen.

The company expects to invest $50,000 per apartment, officials said in the press release.
