COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WPTA) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Columbia City officials teamed up Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the Blue River Trail south extension.

The 1.17-mile, 10-foot-wide multi-use trail has asphalt and concrete sections. Columbia City was responsible for its construction with the help of a $1.8 million grant from the DNR.

With the extension, the Blue River Trail goes through the city and connects with Columbia City High School. It now traverses six miles.
