As cleanup gets underway following the 71st annual Alabama National Fair, organizers say it was another successful year.

Billed as “The 11 Best Days of Fall,” The fair ran from October 3 through October 13, which special themed days, rides, competitions and concerts, including legendary country music artist Lee Greenwood.

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery puts on the fair as a fundraiser, with proceeds going back into the community, usually about $300,000 or more a year. Since the fair began in 1954, more than $10 million generated from it has been put back into local projects.

As the rides and other attractions are removed from Garrett Coliseum, planning is already underway for next year.
