GREENVILLE, S.C. ( WHNS /Gray News) - Health officials in South Carolina are reporting new measles cases amid an outbreak in the upstate region of the state.
This week, the South Carolina Department of Public Health reported five new measles cases have been confirmed.
As of Tuesday, 16 total measles cases have been confirmed this year in the Palmetto State. A dozen of those cases are related to an outbreak in Spartanburg County.
More than 130 students at Global Academy and Fairforest Elementary in Spartanburg County have been quarantined at home after the schools confirmed measles cases.
According to health officials, a child’s exposure has also been linked to Crunch Fitness on South Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville.
