Vermont-based outdoor retailer Orvis has announced plans to close 36 of its locations, including 31 retail stores and five outlet stores, by early 2026, Fox Business reported .
According to Shop Eat Surf Outdoor , the move is to streamline operations and focus on the company’s core offerings. President Simon Perkins cited the “unprecedented tariff landscape” as a significant factor impacting the company’s business model and necessitating these closures.
The closures will reduce Orvis’s physical retail presence from more than 70 locations to 33 stores and two outlets, Retail Dive reported . The company plans to concentrate on its core strengths, including fly fishing and wing shooting, and will continue to collaborate with its network of more than 550 independent dealers.
