PRICHARD, Ala. (WKRG) — A Prichard man has been arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a child.
According to a Mobile County Sheriff's Office news release, James Edward Williams was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at around 12:10 p.m. on six counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
The investigation began when Prichard police responded to sexual abuse allegations of an intellectually disabled 10-year-old girl at an elementary school on Thursday, Oct. 9
The Prichard Police Department enlisted the help of the MCSO. Through video footage, officers said they identified six instances of abuse against the victim.
Officials named Williams as the suspect. He was acting as a mentor at the school through the AmeriCorps Senior Foster Grandparent Program, News 5 has learned.
