PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - People in a southeast Portland neighborhood have been asked to shelter in place as officers respond to a suspect armed with a gun on Wednesday afternoon, according to Portland police.

Police said the suspect had been located by U.S. Marshals.

Just before 4 p.m., police said tactical teams and a crisis negotiation team were being sent to a garage near Southeast 72nd Avenue and Southeast Sherrett Street where the suspect had “barricaded” themself inside. Officers have surrounded the structure, police said.

Southeast 72nd Avenue is closed between Southeast Clatsop Street and Southeast Harney Street. Southeast Harney Street is closed between Southeast 70th Avenue and Southeast 72nd Avenue.
