MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — For the first time, a Maple Grove woman is sharing her story as police continue searching for the driver who hit her motorcycle and sped away — a crash that cost her a foot, but not her determination and empathy.

The collision happened the morning of Oct. 2, near the intersection by Sam’s Club and Walmart in Maple Grove.

Andrea Lee, an avid runner and marathoner, was riding her motorcycle when she was struck by an SUV turning through the intersection. The driver did not stop.

“I started my turn left, and suddenly the SUV was there,” Lee said. “I was beyond shocked that this was happening.”

Her husband, Phil, rushed to the hospital after learning about the crash.

“The only way they could save her foot was through 12 to 14 surgeries over the next four years,” Phil s
