CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday from the attorney representing Adam Montgomery, who is appealing his conviction for the murder of his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony .
Investigators believe Harmony was killed in 2019, but she was not reported missing until two years later by her mother, in 2021.
The case sparked public outrage toward New Hampshire's child protective services, who reportedly received multiple reports regarding Harmony's welfare. Her mother, Crystal Sorey, filed a negligence lawsuit against the state in 2024. She was awarded over $2 million earlier this year.
Montgomery is currently serving a 56-year prison sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder, falsifying evidence, witness tampering, and other charges in 2024
