WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The principal of St. Peter School in Warwick has been placed on paid administrative leave as the Diocese of Providence investigates allegations involving the dissemination of confidential information online, 12 News has learned.

In a statement shared Wednesday night, the diocese explained that it received a complaint from a parent alleging that confidential information about St. Peter School had been posted online.

"These are only allegations, but we take them seriously," the diocese noted.

The diocese is now conducting "a prompt, fair and thorough investigation" into the allegations, noting that St. Peter School Principal Denise Alcala has been placed on leave "out of an abundance of caution."
