PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Local leaders gathered at Rhode Island College (RIC) on Wednesday for the unveiling of a new, state-of-the-art cybersecurity range.

The training facility, backed by IBM, is intended to give students hands-on experience in taking on cyber threats. RIC said this is done through simulations of "high-stakes cyberattack scenarios" in a "controlled virtual environment."

"Rhode Island College is home to a fast-growing cybersecurity program, the state's first bachelor's degree in artificial intelligence, and now to the state's only full-service cyber range," RIC President Dr. Jack Warner said in a press release. "Our students are receiving the best education and the real-world experience that will set them apart after graduation."
