ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Rocco Carlino is determined to keep his late son's memory alive.
That's why he created the Nilito "Nick" Carlino Foundation in his honor.
Nilito graduated from Attleboro High School, where he spent his entire senior year attending the Culinary Arts and Business Management program at Johnson & Wales University.
His life was cut short in September 2019, just days before he was set to begin his sophomore year at JWU. The 18-year-old was on his way home from his summer job when he was killed in a crash on I-95 in North Attleboro.
"I wanted to find a way to preserve his legacy," Rocco said. "I thought starting the foundation was a perfect idea."
