A major inquiry looking into Western Australia's strict new firearms laws has found a number of issues with a firearms portal and helpline, introduced to support licensed gun owners with the transition.
The Firearms Act 2024 came into force in March 2025, but quickly faced criticism and confusion from gun owners, health professionals and pastoralists.
The inquiry, tabled in state parliament on Thursday, received submissions from a range of stakeholders, including thousands from licensed gun owners and community members.
Eleven recommendations were delivered as a result.
