Stray and unattended animals are a problem affecting communities across Central Alabama, but help could be on the way soon. The City of Birmingham said getting stray animals off your street is a priority, but it needs your help to fix it.

Last week, the city started a survey for residents to give input on the issue. City leaders hope changes to the current ordinance will hold pet owners accountable and cut back on injuries, or even deaths, related to dog attacks.

Many residents during Wednesday’s meeting said stray and unattended animals are becoming a bigger issue every day.
