BURRILLVILLE – Paranormal investigator and former “Ghost Hunters” host Jason Hawes says he’s moving full speed ahead with efforts to “save” the home that inspired “The Conjuring” film franchise, even after last week’s surprise twist: the property’s mortgage was sold, cancelling a planned Halloween foreclosure auction.

JJ Manning Auctioneers confirmed that Needham Bank sold the underlying mortgage loan for 1677 Round Top Road on Oct. 8, meaning the lender “no longer has any interest” in the home. The buyer has not been identified, but whoever now owns the note will need to begin a new foreclosure process before the property can change hands.
