MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - MetroLINK celebrated a major milestone Thursday with the official reopening of Centre Station in downtown Moline.
The $2.5 million project was funded through the state’s Rebuild Illinois Capital Program and marks the first major renovation to the transit hub in years.
The upgrades include a redesigned lobby, improved accessibility, new HVAC systems, and a more energy-efficient entrance vestibule.
The renovation also includes a new café, “The Metro Shop,” which offers coffee, energy drinks and snacks for riders.
Officials said the improvements are designed to make public transit more accessible and enjoyable for the thousands of people who pass through Centre Station every day.
