One city council has approved plans to impose higher parking charges on larger vehicles in a bid to "discourage uptake" of these vehicles.

Cardiff Council revealed it will be increasing the cost of parking permits for sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and cars weighing more than 2,400 kg, with the move

The move comes after a report, to the council, claimed SUVs, such as Range Rovers, are "more polluting, more expensive and more dangerous".

The report concluded that drivers of these vehicles should "pay more for permits", with Cardiff council approving the changes at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
