MARSHALL, N.C. —

North Carolina state officials have announced several million dollars in grants to support flood resilience projects across the state.

North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein and other state officials said an additional $6 million from the state's Flood Resiliency Blueprint program is coming to a total of 11 projects.

"This is part of a normal course of trying to make this state more resilient, because we've had now three 500-year floods in the last decade," Stein said.

Projects in Madison, Haywood, and Yancey counties in Western North Carolina are receiving grants with this new round of funding.
