TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - For people who are unemployed and actively looking for work in East Texas, finding a job has been getting more difficult.
Federal labor numbers show sharp drops in the job market compared to the past two years, which trickles down to East Texans.
Experts say the cause and effect are cyclical, but there is one glimmer of hope on the horizon.
“We are seeing more foot traffic,” says Kim Stacy, Business Services Manager for Workforce Solutions East Texas. “We’re seeing quite a bit per week.”
Stacy has seen more people walk in through their doors seeking a job.
Part of that has to do with people changing career fields due to employment halts and layoffs.
Experts agree that for many employers the belt continues to tighten.
