SEATTLE — Police are searching for an arson suspect after a series of early morning fires in Seattle's Mount Baker neighborhood.

At least eight fires were set early Friday morning over the course of an hour starting at 22nd Avenue South and South Hill Street. The fires progressed southward, ending near South Walden Street and Wetmore Avenue South.

The first fire was set at 12:13 a.m.

The Seattle Fire Department was called to a home on Mount Baker Boulevard around 1:10 a.m. for a fire that was set on the porch. Crews were able to knock it down before it spread onto the house.

Officials initially said two residents were evacuated safely.

One of the residents told KING 5 there were three people inside, along with two dogs and two cats.
