SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities have arrested a former Sumter County high school employee who allegedly assaulted a special needs student last month.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said Marceeda Lynett Walker was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree assault and battery.
The sheriff’s office said it received a report Tuesday about a special-needs student being assaulted at Lakewood High School on Sept. 10.
Family members later identified the boy as Stylez Hastie when speaking with WIS. Stylez has autism and is nonverbal.
Stylez’s father, Derrick Hastie, claims video footage showed Walker assaulting his son. The Sumter School District said Walker resigned four days following the alleged assault after being placed on administrative leave.
