BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Department of Transportation plans to close a section of Broadway in Bangor overnight from Sunday, Oct. 19, through Thursday, Oct. 23, to allow for demolition work on the Interstate 95 southbound bridge.

The closures will take place nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During those hours, Broadway will be closed to all vehicle traffic, according to a news release from MaineDOT. Flaggers will be on site to assist pedestrians in moving safely through the work zone.

The demolition is part of the ongoing I-95 bridge replacement project . Drivers are advised to follow posted detour signs and consult the department’s detour map to plan alternate routes.

MaineDOT thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the project.
