A new report from the state Department of Children and Families reveals that they had a video call with a girl they were told was 12-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia after police believe she was already dead.

Jacqueline’s body was discovered last week in a bin behind an abandoned property on Clark Street in New Britain and police said they think she actually died in the fall of 2024.

Jacqueline’s mother, Karla Garcia, and her boyfriend, Jonatan Nanita, have been charged with murder in connection to child’s death.

Karla Garcia’s sister, Jackelyn Garcia, has been charged with child cruelty and unlawful restraint.
