DUNBAR, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Dunbar Middle School is introducing a new incentive program, in hopes that it brings a greater sense of community to all of their students while also encouraging good behavior.
The incentive program, named the DMS House Point System, encourages students to be classroom leaders, as well as work together with different grades for the first time.
School officials told WSAZ’s Hannah Buzza that they got the idea after a visit to the Ron Clark Academy in Georgia. Their trip was sponsored by Huntington Bank.
“It’s about learning about pride, pride for our school. It’s about learning about teamwork,” said Principal Abby Siggers.
Students took a personality test at the beginning of the year that put them into one of four houses.
