COLUMBIA — A former assistant chief at the Boone County Fire Protection District was charged this week with domestic assault and jailed in Camden County.

Kurt David Doolady was charged Tuesday with second-degree domestic assault in Camden County. Court documents allege that on Oct. 11, he pushed his spouse's head into a retaining wall, punched them and choked them at their home in Sunrise Beach.

Doolady was being held at the Camden County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond or $10,000 surety bond, jail records show.

Doolady retired from the Fire District at 5 p.m. Thursday, Fire District spokesperson and Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp confirmed.
