COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department has reserved eight parking spots in downtown Columbia between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Sunday.

CPD has reserved the parking spots for officers to park their patrol cars while responding to calls those days and times.

Rideshare pickup will not be impacted by these reserved parking spots.

Business owners in the areas of the reserved spots said they do not anticipate any issues with these changes. A manager at MyHouse, which is a nightclub and sports bar near several spots reserved for police, said compliance with CPD is important for customer safety.

"They asked us to have a couple of those parking spots blocked off for them while the bar is open just so they can help," Cooper Bridges said. "Police create an (A) safe environment and (B) help wit
