Liberal Senator Jonothan Duniam has called on Barnaby Joyce to “clarify” whether he intends to join One Nation, after the former Nationals leader revealed he would not recontest his seat of New England.
Mr Joyce wrote to local party members on Friday to inform them of the news, revealing his relationship with the National Party's leadership had “irreparably broken down”.
While he committed to seeing out his term as a Nationals MP, the former Nationals leader only increased speculation he plans to run again for One Nation, writing that he was “free to now consider all options as to what I do next.”
