HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- One bicyclist was killed, and two others were injured Monday morning after they were hit by a car in Huntington Beach, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street just after 6:45 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving three bicyclists and a vehicle.

According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the bicyclists, who were identified only as adult males, were found in the roadway.

One died at the scene and the remaining two were sent to nearby hospitals with severe injuries, police said.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows that a 2006 gold Mercedes E-Class hit the bicyclists who were riding in the bike lane.

The driver, 43-year-old Amber Calderon of Long Beach, was arrested
