A person is dead and two others hospitalized after a vehicle struck three bicyclists in Huntington Beach Monday morning in what police believe to be a case of driving under the influence of drugs.

Huntington Beach spokesperson Corbin Carson said the crash occurred just after 6:45 a.m. near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Beach Boulevard.

All three of the bicyclists were adult men, and one of them was declared dead at the scene, the Huntington Beach Police Department said in a news release. The other two sustained "severe" injuries, police added.

Aerial footage from Sky5 showed mangled bicycles in the sand alongside the road.
