LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - New body camera video shows how police and the FBI arrested two people attempting to take hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold coins from an elderly couple.
Federal investigators brought Antonio Pena and Brandi Durst to Louisville to face federal wire fraud and money laundering charges.
Their arrest occurred while the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Washington state was working a fraud case where a couple had already lost $900,000.
The couple was convinced by scammers that they had been hacked and were told to turn their savings into gold, to be picked up by couriers who posed as Federal Reserve agents.
Police set up a sting to attempt to catch the couriers in the act.
