PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Parents and community members in Pike County are going to the mat after learning a wrestling program that has served area children for more than a decade has to find a new home.
The Warhawks Wrestling Club was established in 2010 and has invited kids, grades K-8, to learn and grow in the wrestling arena, sharing the Northpoint Academy gymnasium as its home location.
However, families in the group- which is a private club, not a district-affiliated program- say they were informed the gym would no longer be available to the Warhawks. So, a group of impacted students and parents gathered in protest outside of the Pike County School District office Monday.
