MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Congresswoman Julia Letlow gave an update of the status of the federal government 20 days in the shutdown.

This comes as Repulicans and Democrats in the Senate are in a showdown over the funding of health care subsidies.

The House of Representatives has passed a continuing resolution and Letlow is calling the Senate to do the same in order to reopen the government.

She says that farmers are among those most affected by the shutdown as many are unable to receive federal assistance.

“So what’s happened is the USDA has had to shut down those local offices, the FSA offices that our farmers depend on to go and process their loans,” Letlow said. “We’re coming up on the next planting season. Our farmers have to have that money ready to go in order to plant. So I’m working
