Tasmania Police has located the body of a man believed to be missing bushwalker Daryl Fong in Mount Field National Park after more than a week of searching.

Daryl Fong, a 30-year-old from Hobart, set off on a solo day walk to the Tarn Shelf at the Mount Field National Park on October 11 to photograph the circuit.

He has not been heard from since he contacted his housemate at 3am the following day to advise them he would seek shelter and stay in the park overnight.

Search crews were deployed to the area on October 13, and located Mr Fong's vehicle in the car park where he was believed to have started his walk.

On Tuesday evening Tasmania Police said members of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter search and rescue team "located and safely recovered the body of a male, believed to be Daryl Fong
