LINCOLN, Neb. —

Staff and students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln shared what proposed budget cuts could mean for them at a town hall.

$30 million in cuts are being considered, which means six academic programs and more than 50 faculty positions would be eliminated.

On Tuesday, those potentially affected by the cuts came together to host a town hall.

They said eliminating these programs and positions would be devastating.

"It's our university. It's paid for by our tax dollars. It serves all of our communities. And so, I truly believe that we all should have a say in what happens there," said one of the speakers.

The proposal is set to go before the Board of Regents in December.
