Coming up with enough songs for a fall-themed concert is not always easy, according to Gaston Symphonic Band President Heather Kinlaw.
Nevertheless, the musicians pulled together a full list, and on Oct. 24, the community can attend its fall concert, “Reflections of Autumn” for free.
About the band
The Gaston Symphonic band is a nonprofit organization, “with the mission to bring free, high-quality concerts to the community,” according to a press release.
It is funded through member fees, donations and sponsorships and is composed of more than 70 musicians ranging from teens to adults who are already enjoying retirement, Kinlaw said.
Members of the band play many orchestral instruments like clarinet, saxophone, French horn, tuba and percussion. “Similar to an orchestra, only without th
