RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A North Carolina city is being regarded as one of the best college towns in America in a recent study.

The personal finance company WalletHub ranked 415 college towns across the country to determine the best ones for students to live with a reasonable cost of living, provide good academic and work opportunities, as well as boast a fun social environment.

Raleigh, most notably the home of North Carolina State University, popped up at the No. 5 spot on the nationwide list. The only cities ranked ahead were Austin, Texas, Ann Arbor, Michigan, as well as Orlando and Tampa, Florida.

The other in-state cities mentioned among the top 50 include Wilmington (No. 34), Chapel Hill (No. 43) and Charlotte (No. 50).
