Here’s a recap of Greenville County Council’s Oct. 21 meeting.
Introduced: Ordinance retaining more FILOT revenue
Council introduced for first reading an ordinance that would significantly increase the amount of revenue retained by the county generated through fee-in-lieu-of-tax (FILOT) agreements. It would then direct that increased funding to county roads and infrastructure spending.
The measure would codify a proposal put forth by the administration during budget discussions earlier this year on funding generated by FILOTs which has traditionally been shared by the county with other taxing entities like Greenville County Schools and municipalities.
The proposed ordinance specifies the county will retain up to 80% of revenue generated by new FILOT agreements and allocate that funding
