SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Scottsdale announced a pay raise for critical employees in an effort to hire more and keep them with the city. It will take effect in November.
The Scottsdale City Council approved a plan from City Manager Greg Caton and unanimously endorsed Resolution No. 13533 , which will increase compensation for staff in some of the city’s most essential service areas, like police communications, water operations and maintenance.
The pay raise comes amid low critical job vacancy rates nationwide. Scottsdale found vacancy rates of 36% in police communications.
There are 15 vacancies out of 40 full-time police communications dispatcher roles, and two at the police communications supervisor level, according to a Scottsdale City Council report.
