WACO, Texas — Utilities in Waco are getting a little bit brighter thanks to a new initiative.

Through the City of Waco Beautification, Arts & Culture program, with help from Creative Waco and the Texas Department of Transportation, local artists are turning utility boxes across the city into works of art.

Eleven metal boxes along Waco Drive have been given makeovers through the initiative, with artists covering them in dioramas of the Texas landscape, beautiful skyscapes, tributes to their home city and much more.

The City of Waco said the program is meant to "celebrate local artists and their artwork, act as a deterrent to graffiti and involve City and County residents in contributing to the beautification of Waco."
