An iconic property in Mesilla, New Mexico is the latest to join the prestigious New Mexico Historic Site list.
Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site is west of Mesilla Plaza, and is a showcase of traditional adobe construction of housing and an example of New Mexico art and culture.
"Through tremendous dedication and care from a team of staff, museum and preservation experts, volunteers, and consultants, we are proud to now share this cultural gem with New Mexicans and visitors alike," said Executive Director of New Mexico Historic Sites Anne McCudden.
The site is made up of three buildings - two storefronts and a house that was once home to the Taylors, J. Paul and Mary.
Originally built in the 1850s as a trading post by Mariano Yrissari, in its lifetime the property has served as a dry goods
