DWP PIP alert over anti-fraud checks for your 'income, debt and savings' View Image

New powers to check the eligibility of DWP benefit claimants may soon extend to PIP (Personal Independence Payments). Legislation currently progressing through Parliament would enable officials to view the bank account information of benefit recipients, to check their entitlement to their payments.

These powers will initially target those receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). However, the proposed law indicates the powers could be extended to additional benefits.
